Infectious Disease Outbreaks: Tools and strategies for front-line clinicians

This new online continuing medical education (CME) course focuses on the coordination between clinical care, public health and the laboratory. Created in consultation with front-line clinicians and infectious disease experts from across Canada, this evidence-based course is intended primarily for front-line clinicians, including family doctors, emergency physicians, paediatricians, nurses, nurse practitioners, and outpost nurses.

The course was developed by the Public Health Agency of Canada in collaboration with the Canadian Public Health Association, the Professional Development & Conferencing Services, Faculty of Medicine, Memorial University.

The course gives you:

  • Up to six hours of CME credits - MainPro M1 from The College of Family Physicians of Canada, MAINCERT Section 1 from The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, and category 1 from the Fédération des médecins omnipraticiens du Québec
  • Case studies about emerging infectious diseases that address infection control, history and screening, laboratory processes, public health implications, and patient education and management
  • Direct online connection to colleagues and subject matter experts 
  • Links to important national, provincial and territorial information and guidelines
