The Eastern Ontario Health Unit plays an important role in helping to create and maintain a healthy and safe environment. Throughout the regions of Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Prescott-Russell and Cornwall, we:

• monitor water quality for residents on well water


• monitor water quality for recreational facilities such as public pools, spas and municipal beaches


• monitor West Nile virus activity across the region through mosquito and bird surveillance

The Health Unit is not involved in the following services:  

• mould and mildew problems in apartment buildings


• house and commercial building structural problems


• kennels and other farm animal-related issues


• vehicle and equipment storage


• garbage disposal


• hazardous wastes


• spreading and storing of manure and other farm waste products


• herbicide and insecticide manuring


• issuance of building permits for privately-owned sewage disposal systems and provision of inspections services
