The Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) offers a variety of dental services to eligible individuals through federal, provincial and municipal programs.

Healthy Smiles Ontario
Through Healthy Smiles Ontario (HSO), the EOHU offers basic dental services, such as routine cleanings and exams, fillings for cavities, radiographs (x-rays), root canals* and extractions, to eligible children 17 and under. The EOHU also offers emergency dental care and coverage for eligible children.
*Root canals are offered only in specific scenarios. If you are eligible, your dentist will share more during your appointment.

School screenings
The EOHU offers annual dental screenings in elementary/intermediate schools across the region. Our dental team provides a quick check of your child’s mouth for any dental concerns. Information about any dental problems requiring immediate attention is then sent home to parents and guardians, with recommendations for next steps.
Community screenings
Community dental screenings are offered at the EOHU’s main and sub offices. Please call the EOHU at 613-933-1375 or 1-800-267-7120 to book your child’s screening.
Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program
Through the Ontario Seniors Dental Care Program (OSDCP) the EOHU offers dentures, routine cleanings and exams, fillings for cavities, radiographs (x-rays), root canals* and extractions to eligible seniors.
*Root canals are offered only in specific scenarios. If you are eligible, your dentist will share more during your appointment.

Canadian Dental Care Plan
The EOHU offers limited basic dental services to clients who receive 100% coverage through the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), and do not already have a dentist. These services include routine cleanings and exams, fillings for cavities, radiographs (x-rays), root canals* and extractions.
*Root canals are offered only in specific scenarios. If you are eligible, your dentist will share more during your appointment.

Ontario Disability Support Program
The EOHU offers routine cleanings and exams, fillings for cavities, radiographs (x-rays), root canals* and extractions, for clients who receive funding through the Ontario Disability Support Program (ODSP). You must bring your ODSP dental card with you to every appointment. You may be eligible for additional treatments through your benefits not offered at the EOHU, please contact your case manager for more information.

Ontario Works
The EOHU offers extractions, emergency exams, radiographs (x-rays) ONLY, for clients who receive Ontario Works (OW).
You must bring your OW dental card with you to every appointment.
