Exosomes Skin Rejuvenation
What is an exosome?
Exosomes are tiny sac-like structures that are formed inside a cell. Exosomes leave the cell and carry RNA, DNA, lipids, and proteins from one cell to another for communication. Products containing exosomes are classified as a drug and must be Health Canada approved with a Drug Identification Number (DIN) or Natural Product Number (NPN).
What you need to know
- There are NO products containing exosomes (human, animal, or plant derived) approved for sale or use in Canada.
- Do not purchase products or provide services with products that contain any form of exosomes (human, animal, placenta, plant, etc.). This includes products that may be applied topically or during invasive procedures such as injections and microneedling.
- Exosome products can become contaminated in the manufacturing process. There have been potential exposures to harmful bacteria and viruses, including bloodborne viruses such as hepatitis C and HIV. Use of exosome products have also been linked to sepsis, which is a life-threatening bacterial infection.
